Course Rationale and Outline
English is the language of international communications. This is no less pronounced in business. With the spped of today's flights and the global nature of business, it is essential that managers in virtually all industries have a good working knowledge of English to allow them to communicat ewith their colleagues, suppliers, and customers arounf the globe.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will understand the difference between general English and English for business
The student will have learned that there are many approaches and methods in business English teaching, including lexical approaches, case studies and simulations .
The student will have learned how to plan business English lessons and developed sample lesson plans.
The student will also be familiar with teaching business communication skills: meetings, negotiations, telephoning and presentations.
The student will be familiar with business writing: correspondence and reports

This course has a required text. There is no charge to the student for this text. For diploma students, the cost is included in the overall tuition.

Assignments:
a) The student will complete a series of four questionnaires based on material in the course text.
b) The student will develop a one-week lesson plan in teaching Business English. A good balance should be provided between listening, reading, writing and speaking. This should be submitted along with the fourth assignment.
Certificate Course
This is a certificate course. Students will also earn a Certificate in Teaching English for Business (CTEB) upon successful completion of this course.
