Most families have dialects within their family groups - or neighbors. Students are asked to do some research and then summarize theirr findings. They are to try to discover at least three distinct dialects within their own family or nearby English neighbors. They should describe and summarize some of the differences. 2-3 pages will suffice.

2. Curriculum Development Project

In this project, the student will gain experience in designing and reviewing a curriculum, course syllabus, teaching and assessment materials as well as structure of the intended lessons for the course.

The proposal should have the following five sections:
a. Curriculum Statement
b. A course syllabus
c. Sample lesson plans
d. List of possible teaching materials with annotations
e. Assessment Plan: initial, interim and final

Through this project, the student will demonstrate his or her knowledge of good principles of curriculum design, teaching and assessment material evaluation, for the ESL field. We are looking for a complete and cohesive plan that addresses the essentials and the goals of language learning.

Before completing this assignment, please read our assignment guidelines.
