Course rationale and outline
Before delving into second language learning, it is important for the student to spend some time with the numerous theories of learning in general.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will have a good understanding of the major traditional and contemporary theories of learning.
The student will be able to apply some of these theories in his or her own teaching and further assess their effectiveness.

Assignment:
The student will select 25 learning theories and write a one or two paragraph summary of each. The student may include his or her personal comments as to the effectiveness or appropriateness of each theory.
The paper should be a minimum of 16-20 pages, double-spaced, excluding cover, table of contents, indices and bibliography.
